How switching works

From first call to go-live

1. Plan

We review your providers, locations, specialties and current workflows, recommend the right plan and set a go-live date around your schedule.

2. Migrate

We import your patient data at no charge, typically in 5–7 business days, check it with you and run a second pass if anything is missing.

3. Train and go live

Role-based training for providers, front desk and billing staff. The EMR can be live within a few weeks, and practice management and billing in 30–45 days.

Your data

What comes over, and what stays

We work with standard export formats such as CCDA files, and with your current vendor on the export itself. Exports vary in quality, so our team reviews every file and maps what comes over before go-live.

Open patient balances stay in your old system. Most practices keep access to it while they finish working existing A/R, as new visits bill from OneTouch.

Your data is yours. If you ever leave OneTouch, you can export your data yourself at no charge, or have our team do a full extraction for a one-time fee based on the size of your database.

  • Medications and allergies
  • Immunizations and vitals
  • Prior visit notes
  • Attachments and documents, generally as PDFs in the chart
  • Appointments, in most cases
FAQ

Questions practices ask about switching EMRs

How long does it take to switch EMR systems?

The data import typically takes 5–7 business days once we receive your file. The EMR can be live within a few weeks, and practice management and billing in 30–45 days. The biggest factor is how quickly your team completes setup and training.

Does it cost extra to import our data?

No. We import your patient data at no charge.

Which systems can you import from?

Most other EMRs, using standard exports such as CCDA files. OneTouch also interfaces with most systems that support HL7, FHIR or SFTP.

Will billing be interrupted?

We plan it so billing keeps moving. Existing balances stay in your old system while you finish working them, and new visits bill from OneTouch once claims and payers are set up and tested.

How will our staff learn the new system?

Every role gets its own training path, for providers, front desk and billing staff, and our online course library is included with every paid plan.

Can a multi-provider group switch all at once?

Yes. Multiple providers and locations run in one system, and pricing is per provider, with lower practice management and billing rates for NPs and PAs. OneTouch for medical groups
